Russ was confirmed at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, and has been a member of Zion since his family moved from Corcoran to Buffalo in 1977.
Pastors Ed & John were very welcoming.
Russ is married to Terry, a lifelong member of Zion, and his 6 children and 7 grandchildren are all active members of Zion.
Terry has been the most inspirational person in my faith journey. I say that God calls you in many ways. His voice often sounds like Terry’s.
His favorite Bible verse is James 1:17:
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
It reminds me that God is responsible for all we are gifted with and is always there for us.
Russ has served as an usher at Zion since 1989, first at the 10:30 service, and now as a lead family for the First Sunday Welcome Team.
My dad, Ed, got me involved. I enjoy greeting everyone and welcoming them.
Although none of the Peterson clan is traveling with the 2017 Mission Jamaica team, Russ has been part of the construction team several times, and most of the family has been part of one or more team trips since Zion’s program began in 2011.
I enjoy interacting with all the members of the mission teams and the local people of Jamaica. Relationships that are built with the team last after the trip is through. God has gifted us with talents we can share.
Zion’s 2017 Mission Jamaica team will do both medical and building projects in February 2017.
