Offering Envelope Supply Issue

On Friday, January 6, we communicated with our offering envelope provider about not yet receiving our 2023 January/February envelope packets. Our provider quickly responded by email informing us that due to supply chain issues and their inability to add employees needed, they will not be fulfilling our January/February envelope orders. They determined that if they tried to play “catchup” it would jeopardize their ability to fulfill future orders in a timely manner. Therefore they stopped the production of January/February orders.

Ukrainian Sponsorship Opportunity

Sponsor Ukrainian Viktoriia Kurylenko God has presented our congregation with the opportunity to become the official sponsor for another Ukrainian who is attempting to escape her war-torn country. Viktoriia Kurylenko is a 28-year-old single woman who is a cousin of Yevhen Hrytsai, a member of the family that arrived in Montrose eight months ago. Thank You

Well, we come to the end of another year. Perhaps a year that has introduced more of what we remember as “normal”, or at least a large step in that direction. Here are a few observations on what I thing are some very positive moves toward a new normal coming in 2023: We have a senior pastor. Should I repeat that? After literally arriving at the last minute and then helping Zion manage through a transition period over the past

Welcome Home

Do you know what I miss? Wall calendars. Yep, I know I’m showing my age! The reason I miss having one, though, is the feeling I would get when opening a new calendar and flipping the page to a new year: JANUARY. That clean slate. That new beginning. You don’t get to experience that in the same way on a phone calendar. New beginnings are all around us, even in the dead of winter. I am extraordinarily aware of new

Happy New Year from Harvest of Hands!

Thank you for all your contributions and support for our 2022 – 43rd Anniversary event. It was a magnificent event and many people participated. We are grateful for all your help and participation. Some of the highlights for our event for 2022 were: We had no pricing in the White Elephant Room. It was a free will donation for the items. People were very generous. We encouraged sales by accepting “The Square” for credit card sales. We had a café

Planning Giving into Your Budget

First, choose a charity that you really care about. Of course, I recommend giving to Zion Lutheran Buffalo. But, if giving to an organization outside the Lutheran church, before making any donations, spend a few minutes looking up the nonprofit on watchdog sites such as Charity Navigator, or CharityWatch. These sites rate nonprofits and allow you to find out more about the organization and how donations are spent. Does your household prepare a monthly budget? If so you’re in an
