We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill
In today’s world it’s easy to get caught up in the focus and drive for making a better living and maximizing what we get. But as I get older, I am discovering the truth in Churchill’s quote. I’m finding that participating in acts of giving is incredibly fulfilling. During last year’s Serve Weekend, I was part of a crew that repaired and re-stained a deck for an elderly gentleman. I quickly forgot the sunburn I got that day, but I’ll never forget the new friends I made, the gentleman’s gratitude, and fellowship we all had in glorifying God through service.
Freely giving of our time, our talents, and our treasures can be a very fulfilling and rewarding experience.
Greet a stranger, lend an ear, be a shoulder for someone in need.
Think about your passion and help others in our community. The opportunities for service are virtually endless. Be a coach, be a mentor, be a volunteer.
Financial giving, donations to a cause, food shelf, etc.
