Mission Campaign Taking Root!

planting seeds of our legacy

Planting Seeds of Our Legacy

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Planting the Seeds of Our Legacy campaign, and making this important opportunity a reality! As of Easter, we had reached $34,261 of our $50,000 goal, and updated totals can be found here.

Some very exciting things have been happening with each of the three projects that aim to make a difference in the lives of children both locally and globally:

School of Hope Library in Zambia

The Zion Sunday School’s Change for Children campaign concluded with the Noisy Offering on April 9. Students raised $3093.07 for the All Kids Can Learn International (AKCLI) School of Hope library in Zambia as part of Zion’s $30,000 commitment to this project! The School of Hope library will be built by a dedicated Zion team in August of 2017. Bricks for the library will be made onsite from May through July, and ready for the Zion team in August. More information about books for the library will be coming soon.

Homework Helps in Montrose

Pastor Kimberly Buffie continues to develop the format of the Homework Helps after school mentoring and tutoring program at Grace Place in Montrose, and it is still on target for a spring soft launch with a small group of children. Pastor Buffie is very excited about the progress of the Planting Seeds of Our Legacy campaign and what it means for the Homework Helps program, and the positive impact it will have on the children and families of the Montrose community.

Blessing Closet at Zion

Work began the last week of March on the foundation for the Blessing Closet storage and sorting facility, being constructed on-site at Zion. Visit the back parking lot to see the construction progress.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity, please submit your financial support by May 7, so that Zion can celebrate achieving the goal on Global Mission Sunday, as well as notify our mission partners. Everyone is welcome to take part in the special celebration on Sunday, May 7, including enjoying cake and fair trade coffee after each service.

For more information about the Legacy projects and how to donate, go to ZionBuffalo.org/legacy, or use the blue 150th Legacy envelope in the pews or at the Information Desk.
