Prayer Shawl Ministry

Are you a knitter or crocheter? Zion is looking for folks, young or old, to participate in the prayer shawl ministry. You can work independently or as part of a group. Each knitter/crocheter begins each shawl with prayers and blessings for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. The gift of a prayer shawl enables the recipient to be surrounded by prayer and is a tangible reminder of God’s care and love, encouragement, and inspiration. Please

Quilting Group

The Zion Quilt Group has completed and donated eleven quilts to the Eagles Nest (a home for United States veterans) so far in 2022. We also have completed four baby quilts that will go to children in foster care. We use donated cotton quilting fabric cut into 100 six by eight-inch rectangles that, sewn together, create a 60”x 80” twin quilt. It is an exciting time at Zion as we continue to rebuild and recover from our COVID days. For the month of June, our offerings were $49,600 which is about $1,000 more than we gave last June. For the year to date, our total income is around $366,000 which is about $5,000 less than we had at this point last year. Because we are reestablishing programs and staff, and with utility costs rising, our expenses for the month of June

I’ve been blessed with incredible parents, a loving home, and support not everyone is fortunate enough to have. I’m lucky to live the life I do, however, everyone has valleys to walk through. Some valleys are deeper and darker than others. A lot of the time, it’s easy to lose sight of the blessings. It’s my trust in God that helps me through the valleys. It’s not always easy to trust 100% of the time, but it helps to remember

Thanks to everyone who has donated household items, food, and monetary support to the Ukrainian families. They are doing pretty well and are working with different agencies to get their paperwork in order so they can get jobs. One family has moved into a home in Coon Rapids and another family has moved into an apartment in Minnetonka. One family member is still living with relatives in Montrose. They are very thankful for all that has been provided for them

Fall, Stress, & Grace

We can’t believe we are talking about it already, as it feels like school just ended, but fall is right around the corner! With fall comes all things new: new teachers, schedules, classes, routines, practices, teams, and clubs. Global Missions welcomed Sally Ankerfelt, Minister of Outreach at our partner church, Redeemer Lutheran in Minneapolis, at the July committee meeting. Sally provided us with an update on the happenings at Redeemer and specifically asked that we share Redeemer’s gratitude and appreciation for Zion’s financial support over the years and prayers during these times.
