One of the best times of the year is upon us! We all enjoy the fall’s cooler days, crisp nights, and the changing colors of nature, even though it is for a brief period of time. There is also a new energy and sense of mission that each fall brings to the life of our church. Youth and Children’s activities fire up. Summer travelers are back in worship. The church staff are waiting anxiously to see how the fall activities unfold in this unique year of COVID. Regardless, as a whole congregation, we are busy planning and doing the mission God has given to us.
Each fall here at Zion, the Stewardship Committee invites the people of Zion to plan their financial giving for the coming year. For about one month each year we have a special church wide emphasis on planning our financial giving. Now, we all know that this is a unique year for all of us. Some of us have been significantly impacted in our finances by the current concerns about COVID-19. Never the less this an opportunity for us to remind ourselves about the Bible’s teaching and to keep perspective on the role of money in our lives. We do this, so we can carry out our mission: To Share Christ’s Word, Strengthen Faith, and Serve those in need.
As you participate in our fall stewardship emphasis, please remember, our financial giving at church isn’t about giving to a budget, or giving to Zion. Financial giving at church is about giving to God. You see, there is a connection between our spiritual lives and our financial giving. There is a connection between our faith and finances. Perhaps that is why Jesus spent more time talking about money than anything except the kingdom of God. Here’s a peek at what we will be focusing on this year.
