Anyone is Welcome

Jon has been teaching art for 21 years, 20 of them at Buffalo High School. His focus is on ceramics classes.

Jon’s parents have been instrumental in his faith journey.

They are such strong examples of what it means to be a steward, to be selfless and to simply help and give. They truly live it.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys camping, fishing, photography and traveling to new places around the globe. He met his wife, Ning Ning, while teaching English in China in 2001. They now have two sons, Levi and Miles.

They started attending Zion shortly before Levi was born.

Zion is kind of known as a ‘teacher’ church. So many teachers from our district go here so that is how I started. I liked it and even before I had kids I knew that this would be a great place for Christian Education for them.

The thing he loves about Zion is that anyone is welcome.

You don’t have to dress a certain way or be anything that you are not. Everyone is welcome and you can literally feel that when you walk in.

Jon has recently begun a 3-year term on Zion’s council.

The first thing I have learned about Zion from being on the Council is that we are a BIG church. So much goes on that people don’t see. Lots of energy and work put in to make things happen.

As part of his council role, Jon is also working with the Fellowship Committee. His hope for Zion’s future is that the congregation continues to grow and to reach out in the community and the world.
