Zion has been Blake’s home church for as long as he can remember, since his family moved to Buffalo 18 years ago. Blake’s family is “the family of B’s,” parents Brad and Beth, and siblings Blair and Blaze.
Blake first got involved with Zion Day Camp (ZDC) when he was 16. He had already been volunteering at VBS for several years and knew a lot of the people at Zion, so when he needed a summer job it was a good fit.
I love working for ZDC because it’s such a fun job and all of the kids are so great! They have unique stories and the mix of the kids makes it so the summer is never boring.
He is now in his fifth summer with ZDC, and second year as the morning director. The kids remember the staff from year to year, and Blake enjoys being recognized around town by them when he is home from school.
The kids make it so my job doesn’t seem like a job. It’s such a good time … My goal is to make ZDC a place were everyone can have fun and learn about God. From the campers to the workers!
Blake is now studying architecture at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, where he will be a junior in the fall. His hobbies include running, swimming, and diving. He used to run in high school so is a big fan of the track and cross country teams, and tries to run free 5Ks or triathlons in the area. When he graduates from college, his goal is to become a residential architect.
