Blessed to be a Blessing

Pastor Ted

One of the most basic messages of the Bible is that “we are blessed so that we can be a blessing to others.” In one sense, our church exists to be a blessing for all who come in contact with us. You can see it in our mission:

To share Christ’s Word,
is to be a blessing to others
To strengthen faith,
is to be a blessing to others
To serve those in need,
is to be a blessing to others.

So, in the name of Christ, we:

Help our neighbors understand God loves them and that God can help them

  • Help infants, children, youth and adults experience God’s loving presence
  • Strive to help people know God cares about their life by helping meet their basic needs of food and clothing
  • Seek to bring meaning and hope to our neighbors, heal hurting hearts, and mend broken lives, with the love of Christ
  • Build houses, schools, libraries in other parts of our world

For generations, Zion has continued to do what Jesus began, to help people in our day understand that God loves them and cares about their lives. That is why we develop programs and ministries, teach children Bible stories, help youth understand what it means to live life with Christ, preach, make music, and maintain a beautiful building.

It takes over $1,000,000 each year to do the ministry Zion is known for: great programs, welcoming new members, and great music. It takes financial resources to make it all happen and so, this fall we will conduct our annual Fall Stewardship Emphasis and invite you to help make great things happen through Zion.

On three Sundays, October 27th, November 3rd and 10th, we will talk about how We are Blessed to Be a Blessing. All of us will be invited to designate a portion of our financial wealth to be given during 2020 to God’s mission through Zion.

I want to thank you for your participation in our mission in the past. And as you begin thinking about your 2020 financial giving to God, I ask that you will consider the financial role you play in making our congregation a blessing to others.
