There will be changes to the operation of the Blessing Closet starting in 2021, returning to the original Blessing Closet Mission Statement from 2015 which is “to provide families in our community the opportunity to clothe their children.” Over the years the scope has broadened to include collecting and distributing large quantities of adult clothing, along with accepting many miscellaneous items. Emphasizes was on quantity rather than quality.
Starting with the next distribution, we will concentrate our efforts on children’s clothing—including newborn, toddler, children up to size 16, and junior clothing for teens. Sorting will now be by size instead of categories. Clothing for adult women and adult men will be limited and distributed in a smaller quantity.
As the pandemic continues through the first of 2021, the February distribution was eliminated but plan on an April distribution by appointment only with a limited amount of people attending each hour.
Blessing Closet times are tentative and will depend on conditions and CDC recommendations at the specific time. There is always a need for volunteers; if interested, please contact Sandy and Roger Brenny at the Blessing Closet telephone number 763.317.6052 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
