Making stoles at the lock-in

9th Grade Lock-in 2022

From the evening hours of October 7, well into the morning hours of October 8, our awesome Zion ninth graders participated in the first annual confirmation lock-in.  It began with a meaningful worship service geared specifically for them, led by Pastor Bahe and the Youth and Family Worship team.  Pastor Bahe walked the kids through what promises were made on their behalf at their baptism and what the affirmation of baptism is and what that faith handoff will look like.

A Steadfast Anchor

Since we live in the land of 10,000+ lakes, it seems fitting to use the early church imagery of an anchor as we draw ourselves to the truth that we have a hope that is sure and certain. Jesus is our anchor in every storm and in the still waters as well. We are in the middle of a sermon series called: “Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow.” The last few years have challenged all of us in unsettling

For This to Be

Fall is one of the best times in Minnesota. The weather is great, school activities are happening, the hunting season starts for those of us so inclined, and we enter the “other” part of the church year when all kinds of activities begin. But, there’s a catch. For the congregation to be, we need to be here. We need to be here for Sunday school (which now includes an 8:30 option!) and confirmation. Fall activities such as Harvest of Hands

Mission Jamaica Won!

We had a great Zion golf outing on Monday, August 29. God again blessed our annual golf outing with a beautiful summer day. We had a total of 56 golfers enjoying the day while raising funds in support of our Mission Jamaica partner. The 1st place winners of the golf scramble were a foursome of Cliff & Andy Eng, Rod Erickson, and Andy Tscholl. An interesting note was shared by Cliff Eng of the winning team. Cliff is from Cokato

Call Committee Update 2022.09

The Call Committee met with the Transition Team to learn more about the results of the CAT (Congregational Assessment Tool). The conversation was lively and filled with excitement for the future at Zion. Thank you, again to over 400 of you who participated in the CAT assessment. There is much to glean from what you told us through this tool and the Call Committee will use the feedback to guide and direct the search for Zion’s next Senior Pastor. The

Stewardship, Mission, and Sheep

Oh, that picture of Jesus carrying the lost sheep back to the fold! It is an image that most anyone who attended Sunday school has in their memory bank. Jesus tells the story of a shepherd who leaves 99 of his sheep to find the one that is lost. That one lamb being carried on the shoulders of the Great Shepherd, Jesus. What a loving image of a God who never gives up on us, and never tires from bringing

Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow

Strength & Hope

The truth revealed in these words provides a daily guide.  God is the author and sustainer of all things and is the strength we need for today and the hope we have for tomorrow.   When the way forward seems unclear, God’s people have learned to rely on the truth that God is always at work. It is true for us individually and collectively. “God will make a way.  He works in ways we cannot see.”   It is a line

Music for All

Plan for the Fall! One year ago we were doing re-entry into rehearsals and music ministry. This year, there will be a few schedule changes but all of Zion’s music directors are preparing for a great year of music, shared in worship and in the community. We’re ready to be singing and ringing! New Start Times Note that the elementary and youth choirs have new start times. Since the Elevate singers begin at 5:15, Zion planners are guessing that parents
