Chuck Zumbusch is serving in his second year of three and was initially elected to the Zion Council in 2022. He also serves on the Stewardship Committee, and has previously supported the last Capital Campaign, Finance Committee, and helped with the annual external review of the books and records testing and attestation work.
He is married to Tammy, who is a lifelong member of Zion.
Together we try to raise 5 kids ranging in age from 11-22 and our yellow Lab named Pretzel, also known as Zel.
Chuck was raised in the Catholic church and attended St. John’s University, where he majored in Accounting and graduated two credits shy of a Theology minor, and has been a member of Zion since 1997.
God is a rock of stability and compass for my life, lesson taught to me through witnessing my mom’s strong faith and giving heart . Before we got married, Tammy and I had many conversations about our joint church home and Zion’s community and spirituality were a great combination that made the decision clear.
When he’s not at Zion, you can find Chuck close to his family or doing something outside. He enjoys playing with his kids, hiking, golfing, hunting, fishing, and maintaining the yard. He likes to travel, especially to warm places during the doldrums of Minnesota winter. His favorite food is pretzels.
My whole family is also addicted to the salty treats, hence our dog’s name…
Chuck does not have one favorite Bible verse but enjoys reading the assigned lessons before Sunday worship.
I reflect on the words and what they mean to me and I am always interested in the Sermon and the Pastor’s perspective which helps me more fully understand and interpret.
Chuck values the energy and feeling of safety and connectedness of church and hopes that Zion continues to carry on the important works that have been done by those before us and continue growing in faith and reaching out to those beyond our congregation.
Into The Future
The holiday season is always a special time at Zion, but especially this year. It was a busy late fall for Zion and I want
Shine Jesus’ Light
Summer has arrived in a big way with hotter than average temperatures and smoke in the skies. Big things are happening at Zion as well.
Perspective
We recently experienced a good, old-fashioned, snowstorm. While it didn’t quite live up to the media hype of a “Storm of the Century”, it definitely

Entering a new year always brings some changes, new calendars for the wall, new priorities, and a new group of Council members. I was humbled,
