Contemporary Worship

Russ and Beth Hane have lived in Buffalo for 25 years and are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in June.  They have 3 children:  Kelsey who will be a senior at Winona State University, Bryce who is graduating from Buffalo High School this month, and Alyssa who is entering 8th grade.

The Hane family has been members of ELCA Lutheran Churches for about 12 years, but just started attending Zion last summer.

We liked the welcoming atmosphere, numerous programs and events to choose from, and the staff. Our family feels truly blessed to be a part of such a welcoming family of believers at Zion.

Beth quickly found ways to get involved at Zion. She has served as a 7th grade girls’ Confirmation Guide this year, performed in the talent show fundraiser for the youth group, sung in the Zion Choir for the Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service, and has volunteered for some outreach service projects throughout the year.

Music and especially piano is Beth’s passion, and she teaches over 20 piano students out of her home on a weekly basis. She has been a part of worship teams and choirs for most of her life. She has a long history of playing and leading worship with Russ and Mitch Weinzetl and they have been enjoying leading worship together at Zion’s 9:45am Family Express worship service together since last October.

You will notice that we choose current and familiar songs, but we also repeat them frequently to allow for people to really get to know them.  Participation from the congregation is important to us.

In that time, Beth has enjoyed getting to know some other members of Zion who have joined them in singing and sharing their various musical talents, and has appreciated the opportunity to work with them.

The 9:45 Family Express worship service in Trinity Hall is a service full of energy, with a focus on families with small children.

A little-known fact about this service, though, is that it still gives a condensed adult sermon, so the whole family leaves there each week having all been enriched in many ways.  We invite you to check out this service over the summer!

Beth also enjoys travelling to warm places, gardening, cooking, planning parties and spending time with family and friends at the pool in her backyard.
