Dale was raised as an Episcopalian and his parents still attend his childhood church in Morrison IL.
I grew up in a small church and my family was very involved in church activities. One of the things I remember fondly was serving on the alter as an acolyte. The best part was swinging the incense bowl during service.
He is married to Amanda, and has three children: Elizabeth (15), Rachel (13), and Lucas (10). They have lived in Buffalo for 13 years.
After I married Amanda I started attending Lutheran church and found that it clicked with me. Amanda and I joined Zion looking for a good children’s program. We have enjoyed meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends. We have stayed because it feels comfortable.
I find Zion fascinating because it is such large church. I grew up in a very small church, and because of that my family was always involved in volunteer activities. Anytime something needed to get done it was all hands on deck. Since Zion has more members, it allows us to pick and choose the things we want to get involved with.
Dale and Amanda help with coffee fellowship once a month as part of the First Sunday Welcome Crew, Elizabeth and Rachel both teach Sunday School, and Dale was elected to the Church Council in December 2016.
I feel that it is my turn to serve on the church council because it is time to give back to the church. My family has been very lucky to participate many of Zion’s children’s and youth programs and I felt strongly it was time for me to give back.
Dale’s favorite prayer is the ancient Irish blessing often attributed to St. Patrick:
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Whenever I hear this blessing I smile.
Dale has worked as a Family Physician at Buffalo Clinic / Stellis Health since 2003, and volunteers with the Buffalo Rotary Club and the Buffalo Hospital Foundation.
Dale served on Zion’s Church Council from 2017-2019
