Prayer deepens our connection with our Heavenly Father and leads to spiritual power and action. In prayer we seek God, worship Him, humble ourselves before Him, and receive His wisdom. As we spend time with Him, our lives increasingly reflect Him to those around us.
We all need prayer, support and encouragement at times. Zion is committed to intercessory prayer—prayer on behalf of others and on behalf of the work of the church. Each week, staff pray for a segment of our members and worshiping friends. We encourage everyone who desires prayer on his or her behalf or on behalf of another, to use the resources on this page.
- On the fifth Sunday of the month we offer a service of prayer and healing during our Sunday worship services. We pray the prayer requests we have gathered.
- Members of the congregation who wish to be included in staff prayers or worship prayers or desire a pastoral visit can use a connect card or contact the church office.
- Members and attenders who are actively involved at Zion can share prayer and praise requests with others in the congregation through Zion’s online prayer group.
In prayer, we come to God with our petitions, our praise, and thanksgiving. God promises to always hear our prayers and provide all goodness as God sees that we need. We pray as a community and individually. We pray for ourselves, our friends and families, the church, and the world.
Good and gracious God, we ask that you pour your abundant care on all who are in need of healing and wholeness of any kind. Strengthen those on the edges of society and all who feel broken, weak, alone, oppressed, or ignored. We pray for those in the Zion community whose needs are known only to you, and ask you to bless those in our lives whom we now bring before you in our hearts.
We offer thanksgiving and praise for our blessings, O God, for your creation and the daily gifts that sustain us, and for those who work the earth to feed the world. We give you thanks for Jesus, our Savior, and ask your forgiveness when we stray from his care. And we thank you for the Holy Spirit, sent to us to guide us on our daily journey. Give us trust to follow where you are sending us and courage to boldly enter new places in the name of Jesus. Help us to put our trust only in you, and lead us to be ministers of your light to those living in darkness, that your will be done at all times.
In the certain hope that nothing can separate us from your love, we offer these prayers to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen
Prayers for Healing
Prayer for Wholeness:
Dear God, the Great Physician, your Son Jesus healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and made the broken whole again. Touch the wounded places in my life, bring relief from any pain, and make me whole in mind, body and spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for the Sick:
Dear God, you are the comfort and strength to those who suffer in any way. You know the needs of all those in this congregation, this community, and the world. We pray that the Corona virus might be contained and controlled. Bring healing to all who are sick or hurting that they may feel your presence and know your love and peace. I especially pray for these people in my life: _________. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Anxiety:
Dear God, the stresses and anxieties of our lives can be overwhelming and exhausting. Pour your Spirit on me and all who are in need of calmness and confidence at a time of unknowns. Help me to put my trust in you to guide me through life’s difficulties and to cast my cares onto you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Hope:
Dear God, when we face tough situations we can fear losing hope. Help me to put my hope and trust in you and your unfailing promises. Give me a renewed vision of all the love you have shown, and strengthen me with the knowledge of your constant presence no matter what. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for the Abused:
Dear God, your Son Jesus was abused and oppressed, yet became victorious through your power. Be with all who are victims of abuse of any sort and turn the hearts of the abusers. Break open the prisons of fear and despair, shatter the chains of pain and confusion, and fill these people with your strength to find faith, hope, courage, and wholeness for the future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Caregivers:
Dear God, we give you special thanks and praise for all those who are working right now to improve the lives of others. Pour your blessings on those providing medical care, those who are caring for family members, those who are searching for healing cures, and all who are making an extra effort to reach out to friends, neighbors and strangers. Fill the hearts of those who serve with compassion and patience and guide the important work they do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Thanksgiving:
Dear God, I thank you for all the blessings in my life, for life itself, for family and friends, for the community of Zion, for all that I have that others in this world may be lacking. Help me to always look to recognize how you watch over me and provide as you see that I need, and let my prayer forever be, “Thy will be done.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
