I’m Emily Lewis, a 14 year old freshman recently confirmed here at Zion Lutheran. I live with my dad, mom and brother Ben who plays in the worship band. I love dance, theater, and choir and enjoy performing and sharing my talents.
A little known fact about me is I am bilingual as I have attended a Spanish Immersion school since Kindergarten. My family started attending Zion in November of 2015 when we moved from St. Louis Park to Maple Lake. I was scared and nervous about leaving my school and church but I was quickly welcomed into the confirmation program here at Zion.
My favorite memories of growing up with my youth group have always been centered on Camp Wapo and Ox Lake located in Amery, WI. During my most recent visit to Ox Lake I had a counselor named Stephanie who I really connected with. She introduced me to Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not for harm. To give you a future with hope.
In this verse I feel really assured that everything will turn out ok with God by my side.
For my confirmation project I choreographed and performed a dance with my duet partner Elisabeth Grack. The dance depicted being lost and having God come find you by working through another person. While working on the project I really learned to realize how I have God everywhere in my everyday life. We also wanted to use this dance to show the importance of Camp Wapo in our lives and share the important work the counselors do. We wanted to raise awareness of these camps so other kids may have the chance to experience God touching their lives the same way Elisabeth and I did.
