Our need for giving is as essential as any other basic necessity. How so? Giving helps satisfy our emotional well-being.
You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.
2 Corinthians 9:11-12 says that you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving — the needs of the believers will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. So then why do we often wrestle with decisions to give back?
In a recent talk, The Happy Path, Pastor Chip Ingram shares a real-life story of two families who were each given $100,000 and their journey to decide what to do with it. I encourage you to take 20 minutes and listen to the recording (link below). In it he discusses some compelling reasons why giving is good. I think you’ll find his talk thought provoking and energetic. The outcome of what the families decide to do with the $100,000 might surprise you!
