Sarah grew up attending Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Mt. Calvary Lutheran School in Richfield. She started attending Zion shortly after she moved to Buffalo 14 years ago.
I love being part of the Zion family. Since the day I came for my first visit I have felt 100% welcomed by everyone here at church. The smiling faces and warm atmosphere are so welcoming.
Sarah has three children, Maxwell (21), Madelyn (13), and Abigail (12), and taught Sunday school for nine years when they were younger.
I enjoyed working with all the kids seeing their faith grow over the years. David and Goliath is one of my favorite Bible stories. Against all odds David beat Goliath. David knew that with God’s help all things are possible.
Sarah recently took on the role of Nursery Director at Zion.
Teaching and telling the children about the love that God has is so important starting at infancy. Our nursery gives parents the opportunity to worship and not worry if their little one is disturbing others in church, knowing that their children are well cared for in a loving Christian environment.
Seeing people suffer and wanting to help when there is nothing she can do, and not understanding why bad has to happen to people challenges Sarah’s faith.
I pray and keep my faith as there is a reason that we go through all these seasons, the good and the bad and reminding myself God is building us up for greater things. Keeping faith is not always easy. Can you image how much better of a world we would live in if everyone kept their faith in God? I thank God daily for all the prayers he has and has not answered in my life. I do not dwell on the negative things my family and I have gone through, I thank him for getting us through the bad times and thanking him for his glory and where we are today!
Christian music is often playing in Sarah’s home and car.
It is fun seeing my teenage girls getting excited when one of their favorite Christian songs is on the radio. My current favorite song is Fear is a Lair by Zach Williams. It reminds me that fear puts doubt in our minds and heart and if we keep that fear, we cannot see all the love God has in store for us. Reminding me that God has a plan for each of us, it may not be my plan, but God knows what we need therefore I trust in him.
Knowing that God is always there for us, even when he does not seem to answer the prayer in the way we ask, gives her hope.
I believe God knows what we need and when we need it. Just keeping the faith gives me so much hope. Without that, I feel I don’t have anything.
Everywhere I look I see God’s work, from waking up and seeing this beautiful world he created, to the miracle of birth, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals, people helping people just to help. He is always working, sometimes we are moving too fast, and we need to slow down to see his miracles.
I speak openly about God, to anyone who will listen. I feel very blessed to have such a loving God who gave his only son, so one day we can live in eternal happiness reunited with our loved ones in heaven.
