Upon arriving in Montego Bay, Jamaica, I really didn’t know what to expect. It had been my first time both leaving the country and working with a medical team. Excitement and anxiousness were just two of many mixed emotions I had before the trip, but quickly became comfortable throughout the week getting to build stronger bonds with the team. The experience was as much as anything, truly eye opening and humbling. The people we were fortunate and privileged enough to help out challenged my global understanding through their gratitude and gratefulness for life. I thank God for the opportunity to let our entire team be able to serve and meet with many amazing communities.
Another very important thing I learned, if you ever find yourself in a situation involving eating a grilled fish eye, don’t eat it!
