Local Missions in 2020

Zion volunteers at the food shelf

Despite the same challenges that everyone faced in 2020, Zion’s Social Ministry Team was able to continue to serve the local mission needs of the communities. The Social Ministry Team sponsors events at Zion and provides support for other events in the local area.

According to Roger and Sandy Brenny, chairs of the Social Ministry leadership team, 773 volunteers (many of these are volunteers who served multiple times) donated 2186 total volunteer hours to causes such as Meals on Wheels, Fare For All, Coats For Kids, the Blessing Closet, Buffalo Food Shelf, Adopt-A-Family, and others. Adding together money donated to various events, non-cash items collected and donated, and the number of volunteer hours put in, it is estimated that over $112,000 was distributed into the community in 2020 to serve 6,645 people. Plans are already being made for how to serve those in need in 2021.

You can use the “Local Missions” line on the Monthly Missions envelopes to designate part of your offering to the Social Ministry Team, or if you give electronically you can let the church know any amounts you would like directed to the Team. If you have questions or would like to join the Social Ministry Team, contact Pastor Dave.
