Cory Ramel is Zion’s new Interim Youth Director. He will be helping to support the high school ministry program at Zion for the rest of this school year by connecting with senior high youth, providing leadership for Graceland youth group, and leading communication about youth ministry.
Cory lives in Shoreview with his wife Sara and their three children (Isaac, Megan, and Claire). He attended Hastings High School where he played football and baseball, and Gustavus Adolphus College, where he didn’t play any sport except casually throwing a Frisbee around.
His grandmother and a pastor known as “the Padre” had a significant influence on his faith by living out the peace, joy, and hope they had found in Jesus.
His favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:12:
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Cory describes himself as outgoing, talkative, playful, goofy, approachable, and impulsive. In his spare time he enjoys hiking up north on the Superior Hiking Trail, going to concerts, playing guitar, binge watching TV shows on Netflix, and going to Buffalo Wild Wings with his friends.
Cory has ten years experience in congregational youth ministry and two years in social work with Lutheran Social Services. He enjoys working with youth because of their enthusiasm and openness. He also enjoys helping youth navigate their experiences in life.
Cory will be at Zion on Wednesday evenings and one Sunday morning a month, about 12 hours per week.
