Leann grew up in Buffalo, celebrating her baptism, confirmation, and marriage at Zion. She and Harley have now been married 41 years.
Over that time, Leann has been involved in many ways at Zion, from serving with Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and confirmation when their son, Josh, was younger, to delivering Meals on Wheels more recently, and this year starting to plan for the 150th anniversary of the congregation in 2016.
Josh is now married with two daughters of his own. Leann’s father, Jerry Specht, is also still an active member of Zion.
Many things have changed at Zion, but it is still a comfortable and ‘warm’ place. I was not a fan of the ‘meet & greet’ during the service … but now I look forward to it. Imagine what would happen if we all sat in different pews…
Leann’s favorite Bible verse is Psalms 46:10:
Be still and know that I am God.
I love spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling and socializing on the golf course.
Leann is looking forward to socializing with others from Zion on the golf course at Wild Marsh on August 3.
We first attended Zion’s golf event back when it was the ‘Ed Blair Classic’. I still have my autographed ball. Harley and I enjoyed the social aspect of the event and thought it was a great way to spend time with and get to know other members – and it was just for fun! So, we decided to try to make it an annual event.
Leann is working with Harley, Kristin Wilson and Pastor Luke to prepare for this year’s event. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome. Although golf scores won’t be important, there will be some fun games along the way.
