Hello Everyone! My name is JoHanna Koeppe and I am excited to start at Zion as the Sunday School Coordinator. I grew up in Fergus Falls, MN but have been away for over 15 years, living primarily in California with a few additional stops in South Korea, Iowa, Arizona, and Massachusetts most recently. I have been fortunate to have lived in some beautiful places, but Minnesota will always be home.
I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, with my BA degree in History and Religion, and from Concordia University in Portland, OR, with my Master’s degree in Education. I have worked in Ministry (all ages) on and off for the past 18 years and additionally worked in book and magazine publishing for seven years. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, crocheting, spending time with my family, cooking, reading, doing mission work, and being outdoors (especially at the beach!). I am a lover of dachshunds!
I grew up in a faith-filled home with two sisters and a brother and spent many weekends and evenings attending church activities which led to my love of ministry. I attended Tentmakers Leadership training before taking my first position as a Children’s and Youth Director in a small town in Iowa and then headed to South Korea to teach English.
Some of my fondest memories of church include being a leader for multiple mission trips. It’s amazing to see the body of Christ come together from all walks of life for a common purpose and goal.
My favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:22:
Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.
My favorite hymn is Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. I enjoy the words in the song especially “Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it Seal it for Thy courts above.”
I became involved in children’s ministry because I believe it provides children with consistent opportunities to learn and hear about the messages of the Bible in environments that are created specifically for them. Children’s ministry keeps me young and on my toes! I believe it is ever-evolving and there is always something new to try.
Through all of life’s ups and downs God has been by my side. He is the ever-constant in my life and I know that no matter what happens he is there to sustain me.
I look forward to getting to know everyone at Zion in the coming weeks and months!
