Teresa

Teresa Sorenson

Teresa has been a part of the ELCA Lutheran community all her life.

I grew up in a country church and I love all the simple memories…Luther League, potlucks in the basement, etc.

Her parents inspired her faith.

They lead by example always and they’ve taught me to live by faith and to trust in God’s plan and timing.

Her favorite hymn is “How Great Thou Art.”

It speaks to all of God’s majesty and the wonders He has created.

Teresa and her husband, Scot, have two daughters. Hailey is a freshman at Gustavus and Alyssa is a sophomore at BHS.  Prior to joining Zion in 1999, the Sorenson family were members at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN.

Zion seemed to be the best fit for our family. Although it is large, it has always had such a sense of community.

Teresa has served as a Sunday school music leader, a member of the First Sunday Worship Team, and a communion server. Teresa and Scot both served on the Call Committee in 2010.

Pastors help shape the church.  If you don’t have pastors who can connect with the congregation, the life of the church can suffer quickly. Our church was going through a difficult time and I decided to be a part of helping to turn that around rather than walk away.

Teresa is currently serving on the congregational council because she wants to make a difference.

Living God’s Call means we, as Christians, are called to be disciples of God and we should live to serve him. I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity at Zion.  I hope to have a hand in creating an environment that people want to be a part of, that both adults and children alike feel at home when they are here. If anyone has questions or needs anything, feel free to reach out to me!

Teresa works as the Events & Exhibits Manager for the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association.

Through a smile or a simple act of kindness, I try to live life so that when people see me, they see a small part of God.

In her free time, Teresa Ioves to spend time with her family, shop, decorate, run and be active.

Teresa encourages anyone in the congregation to reach out to her with questions or needs.

Teresa was elected to Zion’s council in December 2017 and will serve from 2018-2020.
