Zambia Devotion: August 10

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27

Are we polluted by the world? Do we find ourselves getting frustrated by things that are really not important? How often have you been irritated when your computer is not responding to your immediate need? Or the driver in front of you is not reacting to the green light fast enough? Or your major frustration today is related to the Twins losing a game they should have won? At times, we all lose sight of what is truly important- because we get wrapped up in our society’s pollutions.

Our trip to this far away place has most of us initially stepping out of our comfort zone. Many of our daily comfortable pollutions are also left behind as we adjust to this beautiful part of the world. God is providing us a wonderful opportunity to focus on what is truly meaningful, by using our individual gifts and talents to make a positive difference in the lives of others. In return the recipients of our good deeds are providing us more than we are giving.

Dear Lord Help us to keep site of what is really important…serving and loving you.

In your name we pray, Amen
