Zambia Devotions: August 8

I am now passing the values they instilled in me on down to my own children, and hope they continue down a great faith journey.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

This verse has two special meanings to me. The first is my great-aunt who lived to be 104. She used to wake up and say this verse every morning. It helped her to reflect for the day and face whatever came her way. The second is when I worked at my previous job and my friend/co-worker and I would refer to this verse through out the day. When a tough situation arose, when life was getting us down, or trouble with staff, we would always remind each other of this verse and that in the end it is going to be fine.
As we are in Zambia we need to remember that whatever comes are way and whatever we face we need to be glad. We are very fortunate to be spending time here with the children and adults we encounter as we share our talents with them.

Dear God, Remind us that each day is a blessing and that whatever comes of it we need to be glad in it. Thank you Lord, Amen
